Well, we had our 28 week checkup yesterday and everyone looks great! Much to my doctors amazement I have had no issues with twin pregnancy. To keep things that way he has put me on a "modified bed rest". I am only allowed 20 hours a week at work (the other 20 I can do from home) but I am to spend 4-6 hours a day laying on either side relaxing, not including time I sleep. Sounds like an excuse to watch bad daytime TV to me! Since the boys could make an appearance any time now, my only job is to keep them in for another 5-6 weeks. At 34 weeks they will be considered full-term for twin pregnancy. If I can make it to 34 weeks, then we talk about getting them out! He wants to consider delivering them early before I run into any issues. (There isn't going to be much room for them in another 6 weeks!) Looks like we could be meeting our boys the first week of September. Garrett and I are very excited to meet them and having a countdown in weeks is very overwhelming! We have so much to do! Oh well, it will get done...
I have had no complications with this pregnancy. I think the universe is making up for all of the weird things leading up to now. Garrett and I say we will no longer be surprised by anything, we have gotten the ultimate surprise! Here are some things I have been told early on in my pregnancy...
-First Dr. I saw when I had a feeling I might be pregnant, "No, you are definitely not pregnant. Actually, you probably will not become pregnant without the aid of fertility treatments"
-Second (and current) Dr. I saw for a second opinion when 3 weeks later I still didn't feel right, "Well Maggie, you are pregnant, I think you might be as far along as 13 weeks!"
-15 mins later during ultrasound..."You are not as far along as I thought...but there are two, you are having twins! You are 7 weeks along so when you went to the other Dr you were indeed pregnant, with two babies"
-Current Dr, "Well here is something interesting, you have a blood type that 85% of people do NOT have (RH negative) and you will need a series of shots so you don't have a allergic reaction to the babies blood type if it positive (like Garrett's)"
-Typically only older women have two boys when carrying twins..."Baby A is for sure a boy...and so is Baby B!"
Like I said, nothing will shock us...
Tell them to wait until after Labor Day!
